What should I know and expect from Breast Augmentation in the Dominican Republic?

Before the procedure

To ensure the best results, the surgeon will recommend discontinuing for 2 weeks prior to the procedure the use of medications that increase the risk of bleeding, such as aspirin, vitamin E, and ginseng. In addition, tobacco, alcohol, and ginger tea should be avoided. It is also important to inform the specialist if you are taking any other medications or if you have experienced any health issues, such as fever or diarrhea, in the days leading up to the procedure.

The surgery is performed under local anesthesia with sedation or spinal block, depending on each case. The implants can be placed under the pectoralis major muscle or in the subglandular plane (beneath the breast glands), depending on the patient’s characteristics. Incisions are carefully planned together with the patient to ensure an aesthetic result and the most discreet scar possible.

Recovery includes a short hospital stay of 12 to 24 hours. The use of a post-surgical bra is recommended for about six weeks, along with antibiotics and pain relievers for a period of 5 to 7 days. During recovery, the patient should avoid strenuous activity, not drive during the first three weeks, and perform local breast massages following medical instructions to promote healing and optimize results.
