What is Liposuction in the Dominican Republic?
Liposuction is a surgical procedure designed to remove localized fat deposits that do not respond to diet or exercise. Its goal is to sculpt and define the figure, achieving a more harmonious and streamlined silhouette. This technique is not a weight-loss treatment, but an effective alternative for shaping specific areas of the body such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, arms, or back.
In addition to the aesthetic benefits, liposuction provides a significant boost in a woman's confidence and self-esteem by allowing her to achieve a figure that is more proportionate and aligned with her personal goals. When combined with a healthy lifestyle, the results are usually long-lasting and highly satisfying.
Who qualifies for Liposuction in the Dominican Republic?
Dr. Guarocuya Almánzar evaluates each case individually, but Liposuction is usually ideal for women who:
- Have localized fat deposits that do not disappear with diet or exercise.
- Want to define their figure and achieve a more harmonious body contour.
- Maintain a stable weight and aim to improve specific areas, rather than lose weight overall.
- Are in good health and willing to follow pre- and post-surgical care instructions.
- Are looking for a safe procedure with results that boost their confidence and self-esteem.
What should I know and expect from Liposuction in the Dominican Republic?
Before the procedure
It is necessary to discontinue the use of aspirin, vitamin E, ginseng, tobacco, alcohol, and ginger tea at least two weeks before surgery, as these increase the risk of bleeding and may delay recovery. It is also important to inform the surgeon of any recent illness, fever, flu, or medications being taken. A proper medical evaluation beforehand is essential to determine the areas to be treated and to ensure that the patient is in optimal condition for the procedure.
During the procedure
Liposuction can be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation, depending on the volume of fat to be removed and the areas being treated. Through small incisions, thin cannulas are inserted to precisely aspirate fat, aiming for a uniform and natural result. In many cases, the extracted fat can be processed and reused through fat transfer to add volume to other areas of the body, such as the buttocks or face.
After the procedure
The patient usually leaves the hospital 12 to 24 hours after surgery. The use of a compression garment is recommended for 4 to 6 weeks to help the skin adapt to the new contour and reduce swelling. Lymphatic drainage massages and ultrasound therapy are also recommended to accelerate recovery. During the first few weeks, intense physical exertion and sudden movements should be avoided, always following medical instructions to achieve the best results.
