Trust decades of experience and the team of Dr. Guarocuya Almánzar for a Nose Correction or Rhinoplasty in the Dominican Republic, performed safely and with a natural appearance. Discover why we are the best choice when looking for a plastic surgeon in the Dominican Republic.

What is a Nose Correction or Rhinoplasty in the Dominican Republic?

The nose is the central point of the face and plays a key role in aesthetic balance and facial expression, without neglecting its respiratory function. Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure aimed at improving the shape and proportion of the nose in harmony with facial features, while also correcting any functional issues.

During the preoperative evaluation, the surgeon carefully analyzes the different parts of the nose (tip, bridge, root, base, and columella), as well as the overall facial structure, to plan a balanced and natural result. This procedure, in addition to enhancing and refining appearance, often has a significant impact on the patient’s self-esteem and confidence.

Who qualifies for a Nose Correction or Rhinoplasty in the Dominican Republic?

Dr. Guarocuya Almánzar evaluates each case individually, but Rhinoplasty is usually ideal for patients who:

  • Have a nose that is disproportionate in relation to their facial features.
  • Wish to improve the shape of the nasal bridge, tip, or base.
  • Have functional issues such as a deviated septum or breathing difficulties.
  • Seek a natural result that harmonizes with their face and boosts their self-confidence.

What should I know and expect from a Nose Correction or Rhinoplasty in the Dominican Republic?

Before the procedure

It is recommended to discontinue medications and substances that may increase the risk of bleeding, as well as to avoid tobacco use at least 10 to 15 days before surgery. It is important to inform the surgeon if you are taking any medications or supplements. Patients should also be aware that during the first few days after the procedure, they may need to breathe through their mouth due to internal swelling.

The surgery can be performed under local anesthesia with intravenous sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the case. Most of the time, the endonasal approach (inside the nose) is used, which avoids visible scars. Common techniques include reduction of the nasal bridge, elevation and refinement of the tip, as well as functional corrections to the septum (septoplasty) to improve breathing. In certain cases, internal splints or packing may be placed for a few hours after surgery.

At the end of the procedure, an external splint or adhesive tapes are placed and kept for 2 to 3 weeks to protect and support the new shape of the nose. The patient should sleep with their head slightly elevated, avoid physical exertion, sudden movements, and sun exposure. Pain relievers and care measures are prescribed to reduce swelling. In case of sun exposure, it is essential to use sunscreen to protect the skin during the healing process.
