What is a Facelift in the Dominican Republic?

Facelift, also known as facial lift, is a cosmetic surgery designed to rejuvenate the face and neck by eliminating skin sagging and restoring a firmer, fresher appearance. It is a highly sought-after procedure for those looking to reduce visible signs of aging and regain facial harmony.

In addition to the physical benefits, a facelift has a strong impact on self-esteem and the way patients carry themselves in their social environment. By improving the appearance of the face, many people feel more confident, projecting a renewed and youthful image that is reflected in both their personal and professional lives.

Who qualifies for a Facelift in the Dominican Republic?

Dr. Guarocuya Almánzar conducts an individualized evaluation for each patient, but a Facelift is usually ideal for those who:

  • Have sagging skin on the face and neck that does not improve with non-surgical treatments.
  • Wish to reduce visible signs of aging and achieve a younger, fresher appearance.
  • Seek natural results that enhance facial harmony without changing their identity
  • Wish to boost their confidence and project a more secure image in their social and professional life.

What should I know and what should I expect from a Facelift in the Dominican Republic?

Before the procedure

To ensure the best results, the surgeon will recommend discontinuing for 2 weeks prior to the procedure the use of medications that increase the risk of bleeding, such as aspirin, vitamin E, and ginseng. In addition, tobacco, alcohol, and ginger tea should be avoided. It is also important to inform the specialist if you are taking any other medications or if you have experienced any health issues, such as fever or diarrhea, in the days leading up to the procedure.

In most cases, a facelift is performed on an outpatient basis. The use of antibiotics and pain relievers is indicated both before and after surgery, along with a compression bandage during the first few hours. During recovery, it is recommended to avoid direct sun exposure; if necessary, sunscreen should be applied. It is also important to avoid sudden movements, and in some cases, ultrasound therapy is recommended to optimize results.

Recovery usually requires a hospital stay of 12 to 24 hours. Afterwards, the use of a post-surgical bra is recommended for about six weeks, along with antibiotics and pain relievers for 5 to 7 days. During this period, the patient should avoid physical exertion, driving, or massaging the area during the first three weeks to promote proper healing and achieve more satisfactory results.
