Nose or Rhinoplasty

rinoplastia header

The nose is the central point of the face, for which its aesthetic balance must always be maintained without forgetting its functions. Rhinoplasty involves an evaluation of its different parts (tip, back, root, base, colunella) and then, in general, the context of the face, in order to obtain an improvement in the nasal shape that is appropriate to the facial features and preserves its functions. It is one of the surgeries that increases the patient's self-esteem the most.

What is there to know about Rhinoplasty?

It is recommended to stop substances that increase bleeding, stop smoking 10/15 days before surgery, communicate if you are taking medications and remind patients that, when they wake up from their surgery, they will probably have to breathe through their mouth.
It is performed with local anesthesia plus intravenous sedation, with general anesthesia in some cases. In a large percentage of patients it is performed endonasally (inside the nose) so it does not leave a visible scar. Each nose requires an individual technique and TX.

The most frequent surgery is the reduction of the nasal dorsum, the elevation of the tip and its exhaustion. It is very common to carry out some functional corrections at the level of the septum to improve the passage of air. If some modifications have been made to the septum, nasal septa should be placed for up to approximately 4 hours.
Tape or a splint is used for about 2 to 3 weeks. It is recommended to sleep with your head elevated and pre and post-operative analgesics to reduce inflammation. Physical exertion and sudden movements should not be made, sun exposure should be avoided, sweating and, if necessary, use a sunscreen.
